Mission & Philosophy

The mission of Pear Tree Point School is to provide a challenging and stimulating academic program in a nurturing environment for students in Pre-Kindergarten through fifth grade.  PTPS develops each child's academic potential and self-confidence through achievement.
Our philosophy of education is based on the following beliefs:  We believe that the early years of education are critical to the development of children’s skills, attitudes, motivation and love of learning. We believe in a caring atmosphere that emphasizes character development, community involvement and citizenship. We believe that elementary education is a partnership between home and school, and that, for our students, the personal scale of our campus replicates a second family, rather than an institution.  We believe in using research-based programs and methodologies to promote student achievement.
Implementing the Mission
As an Official Core Knowledge School in Fairfield County and a Connecticut State Department of Education Approved School, Pear Tree Point School has a rich and robust curriculum for Pre-Kindergarten and elementary school children. The range and breadth of the curriculum provides a stimulating introduction to history, geography, science, language arts, mathematics, music, and art with an international orientation.  In addition, Pear Tree Point School supplements the Core Knowledge curriculum with detailed learning sequences in reading, mathematics, and writing.  Children also study art, music, drama, hands-on science, physical education, Spanish and Mandarin in all grades.

We welcome your interest in Pear Tree Point School and hope that you will call our Admissions Office to arrange a visit and to receive printed materials.  You can also request information and apply online.
