Dear Parents,
Welcome to our Web site and thank you for your interest in Pear Tree Point School. We are an independent day school for girls and boys entering Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5.
While this online experience will provide an introduction to our programs and services, we hope that you will come to visit us for a more personal experience – a guided tour and conversation with our Director of Admissions, Mrs. Janice Hawes. Tours are available throughout the year.
To help you become familiar with Pear Tree Point School, we hold three Open Houses during the academic year. Our next Open Houses will be on Saturday October 23, 2010 and Saturday November 20, 2010. Open Houses are held in the gymnasium on the Main Campus in Darien at 9:00 a.m.
We understand that planning your child’s education is one of the significant opportunities of parenthood. Helping children achieve their personal best is a goal that we share with you. At Pear Tree Point School, we excel in the academic and personal development of young children in partnership with parents.
Key elements of our school are: small classes, differentiated teaching, a nurturing atmosphere and an integrated course of study using the Core Knowledge curriculum. An exciting feature at Pear Tree Point School is the addition of Mandarin to our language offerings. Our academics are enhanced by our character-building Core Virtues program and community service projects.
We pride ourselves on the quality of our students’ achievements. Here are some measures that are noteworthy:
1. Our fifth graders have twice placed first in the Knowledge Masters academic competition to become
national champions.
2. Sixty-five percent of our students in grades 3-5 typically qualified for the Johns Hopkins Talent Search (top 5% in the United States).
3. Student placements create access to outstanding secondary schools in our region and abroad.
Beyond academics, students enjoy the benefits of a small school, where building confidence is the norm. We develop leadership, talents and interests in a setting where children feel well connected to friends and teachers.
Applications for admission are available in traditional paper format, or can be completed online. If you decide to apply, we will assess your child and share the results with you. We look forward to meeting you and hearing the dreams you have for your child.
Sincerely,

David Trigaux
